Boston, MA – A significant winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow to Massachusetts late Sunday into Monday morning.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for central, western, and northeast Massachusetts. Total snowfall is forecasted to range between 4 to 8 inches. Hazardous travel conditions are likely during the storm, with the heaviest snow expected Sunday night.

According to the NWS, the storm will also affect northern Connecticut, creating widespread slick roadways and reduced visibility. Residents in areas like Greenfield, Pittsfield, and Worcester should prepare for higher accumulations of up to 8 inches. Eastern Massachusetts, including Boston and Providence, could see slightly lower totals between 3 and 6 inches.

The NWS recommends monitoring updated forecasts and preparing for potential delays. Snow removal crews are expected to work overnight to address hazardous conditions. Drivers should limit travel and use caution if venturing out.

Forecasters say confidence in snowfall totals remains on the lower end but advise residents to stay vigilant. Updates on the storm will be provided as it develops.
