Boston, MA – A winter storm is expected to bring up to 4 inches of snow to the Boston area starting early Sunday. Residents are advised to plan for hazardous road conditions and limited visibility throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm will begin with rain late Saturday, transitioning to snow around 3 a.m. Sunday. Temperatures will drop to a low of 18 degrees, with gusty north winds up to 20 mph, making travel dangerous. Snowfall is forecast to persist through Sunday morning, potentially disrupting commutes and outdoor plans.

Saturday will see a high near 45 degrees with rain likely after 5 p.m., but conditions will rapidly deteriorate overnight. Precipitation rates may increase during early Sunday hours, leading to slick roadways. Drivers are encouraged to avoid non-essential travel and ensure vehicles are winter-ready.

By Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, skies are expected to clear, with temperatures remaining cold, peaking at 24 degrees. Strong winds will persist, adding to the wind chill.

Extended forecasts show a brief reprieve Tuesday, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 19 degrees. However, cold temperatures will linger, keeping untreated surfaces icy and hazardous.
