Massive Shock as California Supermarket Chain Closes 3 Stores in 24 Hours!

Triple Closure Whammy: Supermarket Chain Shuts Down Three California Locations in a Single Day

Last week, some Californian shoppers were taken by surprise as their local Lucky Supermarket closed its doors. Lucky Supermarket, a subsidiary of Save Mart Companies, ceased operations at three of its California locations on Friday due to poor performance.

On November 3, Lucky Supermarket closed three of its stores in Dublin, Millbrae, and Fremont. Lucky is still dedicated to serving these communities through our other nearby Lucky stores. All associates from these stores were offered the opportunity to transfer to neighboring Lucky outlets.

It’s standard practice for healthy retail companies to continually assess the performance of their entire fleet to ensure long-term success and growth. Given the underperformance of these specific store locations, it was in the company’s best interest to close them.” – Company Statement

The three locations that shut down are:

  1. 2840 Dublin Blvd, Dublin
  2. 40055 Mission Blvd, Fremont
  3. 45 Murchison Drive, Millbrae

While the Millbrae and Dublin closures were announced in advance last month, there was little notice regarding the Fremont store’s closure.

What are your thoughts on these closures? Are you concerned about the increasing number of retail stores shutting down?
