Grand Rapids, MI – Michigan residents should prepare for snow showers and slippery road conditions starting tonight and continuing into Thursday morning. The National Weather Service predicts 1 to 3 inches of snow, with the heaviest accumulation likely during early Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, tonight’s low will dip to 11°F, with light snow showers creating slick spots on roadways, including US-131 and I-96. Drivers should allow extra time for their morning commutes as roads may be icy and visibility reduced in areas of heavier snowfall. Winds could gust up to 21 mph tonight, adding to the hazardous conditions.
Thursday’s high will reach 33°F, but snow showers will persist through the morning before tapering off in the afternoon. Road crews are expected to treat major routes, but secondary streets and sidewalks may remain hazardous. Pedestrians and cyclists should exercise caution while traveling.
Looking ahead, Friday will bring partly sunny skies and a high of 35°F, offering some reprieve before another Arctic blast arrives Saturday night. Bitter cold temperatures will follow early next week, with lows potentially falling below zero.
Residents are urged to stay informed through local updates and prepare for potential disruptions. Keep emergency supplies in vehicles, and monitor conditions closely if traveling overnight or early Thursday.
