Gaylord, MI – A wind advisory is in effect for northern Michigan from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, bringing gusts up to 45 mph. Coastal areas and islands like Mackinac, Bois Blanc, and Beaver Island are expected to experience the strongest winds.

According to the National Weather Service, southwest to west winds of 20 to 30 mph will create challenging conditions, particularly in areas with snow on the ground. Blowing snow may reduce visibility to less than one mile at times, leading to hazardous travel.

Motorists, especially those driving high-profile vehicles, are advised to use caution as slick roads and reduced visibility could complicate commutes. Isolated power outages are possible due to unsecured objects being blown around.

Residents should secure outdoor furniture and prepare for potentially hazardous conditions during this time. Additional snow shower activity could exacerbate reduced visibility in some areas.

This advisory impacts several counties, including Grand Traverse, Emmet, Alpena, and Presque Isle, among others. Gusty conditions are expected to subside by 8 p.m. Monday evening.
