Mississippi Tornado: EF-0 Twister Touches Down in Jeff Davis County

Jeff Davis County, MS – A brief EF-0 tornado touched down early Friday morning in Jeff Davis County, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson confirmed. The weak tornado, which lasted only two minutes, caused minor damage but resulted in no injuries.

According to NWS Jackson, the tornado formed at 3:12 a.m. CDT and dissipated by 3:14 a.m. It had estimated peak winds of 80 mph, a path length of 0.5 miles, and a maximum width of 75 yards. While classified as weak, the storm serves as a reminder of the area’s susceptibility to sudden weather changes.

Officials emphasized that even marginal weather events can produce tornadoes and urged residents to stay alert during storm systems. The damage survey was completed Friday, confirming the tornado’s brief but impactful presence.
