Jackson, MS – Heavy rainfall and severe storms are expected to impact Mississippi through Wednesday, increasing the risk of flash flooding and dangerous weather conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, multiple waves of rain will continue today and into Wednesday, with total accumulations ranging from 1 to 5 inches. Some areas may experience localized flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and urban zones. Roads could become hazardous due to rising water levels.
Severe thunderstorms are also forecast for Wednesday into Wednesday night, bringing damaging winds and the possibility of tornadoes. The NWS has placed parts of central and northern Mississippi under a “Slight Risk” for severe weather, meaning conditions are favorable for dangerous storms.
Another round of severe weather is expected Saturday into Saturday night, though details remain uncertain. All modes of severe weather, including tornadoes, strong winds, and additional flooding, are possible.
Residents are urged to stay informed, monitor forecasts, and prepare for potential disruptions. If traveling, avoid flooded roads and seek shelter during severe storms. More updates will be issued as conditions develop.
