Jackson, MS – Patchy dense fog is creating hazardous travel conditions across central Mississippi early this morning, but sunshine and warmer temperatures are in store for the week ahead.

According to the National Weather Service, fog is expected to clear by 9 a.m., giving way to sunny skies and highs reaching 73°F today. Tonight will be clear with lows around 48°F, but temperatures will climb as the week progresses.

On Monday, expect sunny conditions and a high near 76°F, with light south winds increasing to 10 mph. Tuesday will bring partly sunny skies and a high near 76°F, while Wednesday will be the warmest day yet, with highs reaching 81°F under partly sunny skies. Overnight lows will stay mild in the 60s.

By Thursday, temperatures will remain unseasonably warm at 79°F, with a mix of sun and clouds. Light winds could increase slightly, especially midweek, bringing occasional gusts up to 20 mph.

Motorists should use caution this morning due to fog, especially along I-55 and I-20. Warmer temperatures this week mark a shift toward spring-like conditions for early February.
