Springfield, MO – Missouri residents should prepare for accumulating snowfall, hazardous travel, and dangerously cold temperatures from Tuesday night through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Springfield.

The NWS stated there is a 60-70% chance of moderate travel disruptions across much of the state, especially in areas surrounding Springfield. Snowfall will begin Monday night, peak Tuesday morning through afternoon, and taper off by Wednesday night. Blowing snow and wind chills near zero degrees could create dangerous conditions for commuters and travelers.

Officials advise residents to limit travel during the storm, stock up on essentials, and ensure vehicles are winter-ready. Temperatures are expected to plummet, with an 80-100% probability of dangerously cold conditions, making frostbite a significant risk for those exposed to the elements for prolonged periods.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) urged drivers to check road conditions at modot.org and allow extra time for travel. Residents are also encouraged to monitor weather updates from NWS Springfield for the latest alerts and safety information.
