Reno, NV – Temperatures are set to drop dramatically across the Reno area this week, with freezing nights and possible snow showers along I-580. Residents can enjoy sunny skies today and Thursday before wintry weather moves in by Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, today will see a high of 50 degrees and sunny skies, with calm winds providing some reprieve from the recent chill. Tonight, temperatures will drop to a low of 23, so be sure to bundle up if heading out.
Thursday will bring slightly warmer weather, with highs reaching 51 degrees under sunny skies. However, temperatures will plummet to 29 degrees overnight, signaling the start of a colder pattern.
By Saturday, a 30% chance of snow showers is forecasted, especially in areas near I-580 and surrounding neighborhoods. Highs will only reach 36 degrees, and light snow accumulation may create slippery road conditions. Residents are urged to drive cautiously and allow extra travel time if commuting.
Looking ahead, Saturday night will be the coldest yet, with a low of just 14 degrees. Sunday’s high will reach 35 degrees under mostly sunny skies, but overnight lows will again dip to 14 degrees. This frigid trend will persist into Monday, with a high of 41 and lows in the teens.
Plan ahead for any outdoor activities, and take precautions to protect pipes, pets, and plants from freezing temperatures. If driving, check road conditions and prepare for delays due to icy patches or snow accumulation.
