Reno, NV – A winter storm is set to bring snow and rain to Reno this week, with conditions worsening by midweek. Residents can expect freezing temperatures, increasing cloud cover, and potential travel disruptions along I-580 and surrounding roads.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Tuesday will remain mostly sunny with a high near 42°F, but clouds will increase overnight. By Wednesday, there’s a 20% chance of snow in the morning, rising to 60% overnight. Snow accumulations will be light, but icy roads could impact travel.

Thursday will see snow changing to rain as temperatures rise, with snow levels around 5,000 feet. A mix of rain and snow will continue through Friday, potentially affecting higher elevations.

Motorists should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility on highways, especially at night. The NWS advises checking road conditions before travel and dressing in layers for the coldest temperatures, which will dip to the teens overnight.

By the weekend, Reno will see partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s, offering a brief break before the next potential system. Stay tuned for updates.
