Nevada Weather Alert: Strong Winds and Rain Expected in Reno on Wednesday

Reno, NV – Residents in Reno should brace for strong winds and rain Wednesday, with a chance of snow later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, with gusts reaching 55 mph. Rain will continue through Tuesday night, becoming breezy with lows near 30°F. By Wednesday, conditions will clear up, bringing sunny skies and highs around 46°F.

Thursday will see another shift, with rain expected before turning into snow later in the evening. Snow levels will drop to 4,800 feet overnight, with light accumulation possible. By Friday, snowfall remains likely, and temperatures will struggle to reach 40°F.

Drivers should prepare for changing conditions, especially on Interstate 580 near Washoe Lake, where strong gusts could create hazardous travel. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, as gusty winds may cause minor power outages.

The weekend looks calmer, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 30s. Stay updated on changing conditions and take necessary precautions ahead of winter weather impacts.
