Nevada Winter Storm Warning: Up to 16 Inches of Snow Expected Through Tuesday

Las Vegas, NV – A significant winter storm is expected to impact parts of Nevada and surrounding regions starting this afternoon, bringing heavy snowfall and dangerous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the Winter Storm Warning covers areas including Esmeralda and Central Nye County, Death Valley National Park, and the Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon area. Snowfall totals are forecast to reach 16 inches in higher elevations, with accumulations between 2 and 10 inches depending on altitude.

The warning is in effect from 4 p.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Monday for Esmeralda and Nye counties and Death Valley, while the Spring Mountains region will remain under the warning until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Roads such as Highway 95 near Goldfield and State Route 190 in Death Valley are likely to experience hazardous conditions.

Travelers are urged to carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water, and to check road conditions via 511 or 1-800-427-7623 before driving. Areas above 7,000 feet may see the most significant impact, with the potential for travel disruptions extending into midweek.

Residents and visitors are advised to prepare for icy roads, possible closures, and delays throughout the warning period.
