Boston, MA – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island from 10 PM Wednesday until 10 AM Thursday, with mixed precipitation expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, snowfall between 1 and 3 inches is anticipated, along with ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch. Affected areas include Hartford, Worcester, Springfield, Lowell, and Providence, where slippery roads could make the Thursday morning commute dangerous.
Residents should prepare for potentially icy conditions on untreated roads and sidewalks. Drivers are advised to reduce speed and allow extra travel time. Power outages may occur due to ice buildup on power lines.
Temperatures are expected to hover near freezing, which could worsen icing on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses. Precipitation is expected to taper off by late Thursday morning, but lingering slick spots are possible.
Stay updated with the latest weather alerts and consider adjusting travel plans if possible.
