Albuquerque, NM – Drivers in eastern New Mexico woke up to freezing fog Tuesday morning, creating potentially hazardous conditions on I-40 near Clines Corners. The National Weather Service warns the fog could linger until 9 a.m., with icy patches on roads from Monday’s snow complicating the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service Albuquerque office, visibility remains low in areas stretching from the Estancia Basin eastward to Clines Corners. Morning commuters are advised to reduce speeds and allow extra time for travel, particularly along I-40. The fog is expected to dissipate by mid-morning, giving way to clear skies and calm conditions throughout the day.
Looking ahead, Albuquerque is set for sunny weather through Friday, with daytime highs ranging from 45 to 52 degrees. Wednesday will bring a high near 46 degrees with light north winds. Nights will remain chilly, with lows dipping to 18 degrees by Wednesday night. Thursday will stay sunny and calm, with highs near 49 degrees.
By Friday, warmer temperatures near 52 degrees are forecast, followed by mostly sunny skies on Saturday with a high of 47. A slight chance of snow showers moves in Saturday night and Sunday, though impacts are expected to be minimal.
Residents should remain vigilant for icy roads Tuesday morning and enjoy the sunny, tranquil conditions expected later this week. For real-time updates, check local traffic alerts.
