Buffalo, NY – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across western and central New York until 6 a.m. Monday, with freezing drizzle and light snow creating hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo, areas including Buffalo, Rochester, Niagara Falls, and Syracuse will see snow accumulations of up to 3 inches, with the heaviest totals expected in the Tug Hill Plateau. A light glaze of ice is also anticipated, making roads, sidewalks, and parking lots slippery.
Counties under the advisory include Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Southern Erie, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, and Ontario. Freezing drizzle is expected to continue overnight, making driving difficult and increasing the risk of ice accumulation on windshields.
Officials urge residents to slow down and use caution while driving. Visibility may be reduced due to snowfall, and untreated roads could become slick. Drivers should allow extra time for travel and stay updated on road conditions.
Residents can report snow totals and ice accumulation through the NWS website or social media. The advisory is set to expire at 6 a.m. Monday, but lingering icy conditions may persist into the morning commute.
