Buffalo, NY – A winter weather advisory has been issued for New York’s western Southern Tier, warning of hazardous conditions from early Thursday morning through the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, the advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties, including the cities of Jamestown, Olean, and Wellsville. Mixed precipitation is expected, with snow and sleet accumulations of less than an inch and ice buildup of around one-tenth of an inch.

Travelers should prepare for slippery road conditions, especially during the Thursday morning commute. Freezing rain and sleet could create hazardous driving conditions with reduced visibility. Officials urge drivers to slow down, use caution, and allow extra travel time.

Residents are encouraged to report snow and ice conditions through the National Weather Service’s website or social media channels. The advisory comes as part of a broader pattern of winter weather affecting the region.
