New York Weather Alert: Wintry Mix and Slippery Roads Expected Through Friday Morning

New York, NY – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for New York City and parts of northeast New Jersey until Friday morning, bringing snow, sleet, and freezing rainthat will create hazardous travel conditionsMorning and evening commutes will be impacted as roads become slick with ice and accumulating snow.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will start as snow before transitioning into a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain overnight into Friday. Total snow accumulations could reach up to 2 inches, with a light glaze of ice possible on untreated surfaces.

Drivers should use caution on major roadways, including the FDR Drive, I-95, and the George Washington Bridge, where icy patches may develop. Pedestrians should also be mindful of slippery sidewalks and stairs.

Looking ahead, Friday will be mostly sunny and breezy, offering a brief break from precipitation. However, another winter system is expected Saturday night, bringing additional snow and sleet into Sunday morning.
