A winter storm is set to bring snow, sleet, and freezing rain to New York City and surrounding areas tonight, making travel hazardous. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 5 p.m. Saturday through 11 a.m. Sunday, warning of slippery roads and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall could reach 3 to 5 inches, with sleet and freezing rain potentially creating dangerous road conditions. Temperatures will hover around the low 30s, with winds gusting up to 15 mph. Motorists should exercise caution, especially along major routes such as I-95 and I-278, where icy conditions are expected.

Sunday morning will start cloudy with lingering snow showers before clearing by midday. Highs will reach 39°F, offering a brief reprieve before another potential system moves in by midweek. Monday and Tuesday will be cold but dry, with highs in the mid-30s.

Travelers should check local transportation updates and allow extra time for commutes. The National Weather Service advises staying indoors if possible and keeping emergency kits on hand in case of power outages.
