New York State – A warming trend is set to bring a reprieve from bitter cold this weekend, but snow showers could disrupt plans Sunday. Temperatures across Rensselaer County are expected to climb above freezing by Saturday, with snow chances increasing late Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, tonight’s lows in the Albany area will drop to 11°F under partly cloudy skies. Friday will bring mostly sunny conditions with highs near 27°F. Calm winds will make for a manageable day before dipping to an 8°F low Friday night.
The warming trend begins Saturday, with sunny skies pushing daytime highs to 26°F. However, a south wind picking up in the evening could signal changes ahead. Saturday night will remain dry, but snow showers are forecast to arrive late Sunday afternoon as temperatures hit 35°F.
Travelers along I-90 should prepare for potentially slick roads Sunday evening as light snow could reduce visibility and lead to icy conditions. Early Monday morning, another chance of snow showers will persist as lows hover around 25°F.
Looking further ahead, the weather stabilizes early next week, with partly sunny skies Monday and daytime highs again near 35°F. However, additional snow showers may return Tuesday, impacting evening commutes.
Stay informed and plan ahead by monitoring local forecasts for updates. Prepare for snow-covered roads Sunday evening, and check your vehicle’s winter readiness.
