Raleigh, NC – Dense fog continues to blanket portions of central and eastern North Carolina, significantly reducing visibility to a quarter-mile or less. Drivers should exercise caution, particularly along major roadways such as I-40 and I-95. Conditions are expected to persist through the early hours of Monday before rain spreads northward, improving visibility after 2 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, this fog impacts the Coastal Plain and Sandhills regions, including Raleigh, Fayetteville, and Rocky Mount. Commuters should plan for slower travel and keep low-beam headlights on to navigate the hazardous conditions safely.

A cold front is set to bring a sharp drop in temperatures on Monday evening, with lows reaching the mid-teens and wind chills plummeting to single digits. Residents are urged to bundle up and limit outdoor exposure to avoid frostbite risks.

By midweek, forecasters anticipate the arrival of a winter storm system, potentially delivering snow across central and eastern parts of the state. Tuesday night snow chances are highest between 7 p.m. and midnight, with accumulations likely in areas such as Raleigh and Wilson.

Looking ahead, Monday will remain sunny but cold with a high of 33°F, while Tuesday sees a slight chance of snow and temperatures hovering near freezing. Wednesday will bring mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 20s.
