North Carolina Winter Weather Alert: Ice and Snow to Impact Roads Through Wednesday Morning

Greensboro, NC – A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of central North Carolina, warning of icy roads and hazardous travel conditions from Tuesday morning through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, the advisory will be in effect from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday for areas along and north of Interstate 85, including Greensboro, Durham, Winston-Salem, and Roxboro. Expected precipitation includes up to a half-inch of snow and sleet, with ice accumulations around one-tenth of an inch.

Counties impacted include Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Durham, Person, Granville, Vance, Warren, and Halifax. Forecasters warn that roads, especially bridges and overpasses, could become slick and hazardous, making both the morning and evening commutes difficult.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling. Those needing updated road conditions can dial 511 for the latest reports.

The winter storm could bring delays or disruptions to schools and businesses. Residents should monitor local weather updates and prepare for potential travel delays.
