Mason City, IA – Strong west winds will persist across north-central Iowa, with gusts reaching 45 mph through 6 p.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for counties including Cerro Gordo, Hancock, and Kossuth.
The strongest gusts will affect cities such as Mason City, Algona, and Clear Lake, potentially causing power outages and blowing unsecured objects. Drivers should be cautious on Highway 18 and Interstate 35, as high winds can impact vehicle stability.
Residents are urged to prepare for possible power disruptions and to secure loose outdoor items. Wind speeds will begin to taper off by early evening, but breezy conditions will continue overnight.
