Atlanta, GA – Severe thunderstorms are expected to move through north and central Georgia early Sunday, bringing strong winds, hail, and a possible brief tornado, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
The NWS reported that the storms are forecast to begin around 2 a.m. and continue through 10 a.m. Sunday. Wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph, with pea- to dime-sized hail possible across much of the region.
Areas including Atlanta, Macon, and Athens are at risk, with the most severe conditions expected between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. Central Georgia will see the threat extend into the mid-morning hours.
