Dallas, TX – A Flood Watch has been issued for North Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, from 6 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday morning as heavy rainfall threatens to cause flooding in low-lying and urban areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, 2 to 3 inches of rain is expected across the region, with isolated totals reaching up to 5 to 7 inches. The watch covers Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Rockwall, Grayson, Fannin, Hunt, Lamar, and Delta counties.

Officials warn that excessive runoff may lead to flooding of creeks, rivers, and streets, particularly in areas with poor drainage. Low-water crossings could become impassable, and flash flooding is possible in flood-prone neighborhoods.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential flooding. If flooding occurs, avoid driving through high water and move to higher ground if necessary.

The heaviest rain is expected overnight into early Thursday. Stay tuned to local weather alerts for further updates and possible Flood Warnings.
