Gaylord, MI – A mild start to the week will still bring hazardous winter conditions to northern Michigan on Monday, with strong winds and snow creating potential travel issues.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, gusts up to 45 mph are expected across the region, leading to blowing and drifting snow, reduced visibility, and difficult travel conditions in open areas. While snow accumulations will remain light, with 1 to 3 inches possible in the eastern Upper Peninsula and up to 2 inches in parts of northwest Lower Michigan, the windy conditions will likely exacerbate the effects of the snowfall.

Residents are urged to secure loose objects outdoors and be prepared for the possibility of isolated tree damage and power outages caused by the strong winds. The forecast calls for temperatures to peak between 30 and 36 degrees on Monday, before cooling midweek with light snow chances persisting.

Motorists are advised to slow down, allow extra time for travel, and remain cautious, especially in areas prone to drifting snow.
