Aberdeen, SD – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for northern and eastern South Dakota, as well as west-central Minnesota, with up to 6 inches of snow expected by Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Aberdeen, snowfall will continue through early Saturday morning, impacting areas including Corson, Campbell, Brown, Marshall, and Codington Counties in South Dakota, along with Traverse and Big Stone Counties in Minnesota. The advisory is set to expire at 6 a.m. CST (5 a.m. MST) Saturday for most locations, while areas farther east remain under advisory until noon CST Saturday.
The heaviest snow, with accumulations between 3 and 6 inches, is expected in the Sisseton Hills region and parts of northern South Dakota, while other areas will see 1 to 5 inches. Blowing snow may reduce visibility, and hazardous road conditions are likely, particularly during the Friday evening commute.
Travelers should slow down, allow extra travel time, and check road conditions by calling 511 or visiting state transportation websites.
