‘NYPD Blue’ actress arrested for felony assault

Kim Delaney, an actress who appeared on such shows as “NYPD Blue,” “Army Wives” and “The O.C.,” was arrested over the weekend “for an assault with a deadly weapon,” according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

The actress was arrested Saturday morning at around 10:15 a.m., according to booking information released by the LASD.

TMZ, citing law enforcement sources, reported that Delaney and her partner, James Morgan, had gotten into an argument that became physical. A representative for the LASD confirmed that deputies from its Marina Del Rey station responded to “a domestic disturbance call” at around 9:45 a.m.

“Subsequent to an investigation by deputies, Mrs. Kim Delaney was arrested for an assault with a deadly weapon and Mr. James Morgan was arrested for battery,” reads a statement the LASD shared with Nexstar’s KTLA.

An investigation is ongoing, the department said.

The LASD website indicates that Delaney is facing a felony charge, while Morgan was charged with a misdemeanor. Booking information made public by the LASD shows Morgan was released on bond; it was unclear if Delaney had also been released as of Monday morning. Both are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Delaney played Det. Diane Russell on ABC’s “NYPD Blue” between 1995 and 2003, per IMDb. During the course of the series, she was nominated for an Emmy three times (in 1997, 1998 and 1999), winning once in 1997 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
