Occupant found dead following second alarm fire in Orange County

Firefighters found one person dead inside an apartment building after dousing a blaze in Orange County late Thursday night.

Multiple 911 calls reporting the fire in the 21000 block of Camelia in Lake Forest were received just after 11 p.m., the Orange County Fire Authority posted on X.

Arriving firefighters found flames were already shooting through the windows and roof of the structure, and were threatening surrounding units.

A second alarm was requested for additional resources to battle the blaze but crews still managed to prevent the fire from extending into other parts of the building, the post read.

“Sadly, a search revealed one deceased occupant inside,” the Fire Authority stated. No details about the identity of the occupant were immediately released.

Investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
