Cleveland, OH – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of northeast Ohio until 4 a.m. Friday, as snow continues to fall across the region. Snow accumulations are expected to reach up to two inches in some areas, with higher totals likely in the snowbelt terrain.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory affects cities including Cleveland, Akron, and Mentor. Snow began falling early Thursday and is forecasted to continue overnight, creating slippery roads and limited visibility for drivers. Motorists are urged to use caution during their evening commutes, as road conditions may worsen as temperatures drop.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has deployed plows to clear major highways, but residential roads may remain untreated until after the snowfall subsides. ODOT encourages residents to delay non-essential travel and monitor road conditions via their website, www.ohgo.com.
In Erie County, Pennsylvania, snowfall is projected to reach up to four inches by Friday morning. Local authorities are warning residents to expect hazardous driving conditions for both the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation recommends motorists slow down and adhere to any travel restrictions.
Forecasters predict the snow will taper off by dawn Friday, but freezing temperatures will keep road surfaces slick. Residents should prepare for delays and allow extra travel time.
