Tulsa, OK – A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will impact Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through Wednesday, making travel hazardous. Drivers on Interstate 40 and other major roadways should prepare for slick conditions and possible delays.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, widespread rain will spread Monday night, turning to freezing rain and snow by early Tuesday. Ice accumulation is expected near the Oklahoma-Kansas border, with sleet and snow becoming more widespread Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Wind chills will drop into the teens and single digits, making outdoor conditions dangerous.

By Wednesday, strong north winds up to 20 mph will accompany lingering snow showers. While snow accumulation is expected to remain light, icy roads could lead to travel delays. Thursday will bring some relief with partly sunny skies and highs around 30°F, though morning lows will remain frigid.

Residents should monitor updates from local authorities and be cautious of changing road conditions. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation advises limiting travel if possible and preparing for freezing conditions.
