Oklahoma Winter Weather Alert: Ice and Snow Expected from Tuesday Night to Wednesday

Oklahoma City, OK – A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of Oklahoma, with a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain expected from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning. Travel conditions could become hazardous, especially on bridges and overpasses.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, the advisory will take effect at 6 p.m. Tuesday and remain in place until noon Wednesday. Forecasts indicate up to two inches of snow and sleet, along with ice accumulations of up to two-tenths of an inch. The impacted areas include central, northern, northwest, and western Oklahoma, covering cities such as Enid, Stillwater, Ponca City, and Woodward.

Motorists should prepare for slick roads, particularly during the Wednesday morning commute. While widespread power outages and tree damage are not expected, authorities urge caution when traveling. Drivers should reduce speed and allow extra time for travel.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and check road conditions via Oklahoma’s 511 system before heading out. Anyone venturing outside should be mindful of icy sidewalks and driveways to avoid slips and falls.
