Medford, OR – Southern Oregon residents should prepare for dangerously cold conditions this weekend, with wind chills dipping as low as -5 degrees in some areas. Morning fog is expected to reduce visibility significantly, particularly along I-5 and other major highways, making travel hazardous during early hours.
The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory through Sunday morning. Saturday’s temperatures will drop to a low of 22°F in Medford, with colder readings east of the Cascades. Wind chills will make it feel much colder, especially in areas like Klamath Falls and Crater Lake. Sunday morning will bring similar conditions, with low temperatures paired with dense fog.
Drivers should exercise caution, use fog lights, and allow extra time to reach destinations. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities during the coldest hours and take steps to protect pets and livestock from freezing conditions.
Looking ahead, temperatures will begin to climb on Monday, bringing some relief with sunny skies and highs nearing 50°F. Until then, stay warm and prepared for winter’s bite.
