Eugene, OR – A wintry mix of rain and snow is set to impact Eugene and surrounding areas starting Friday, bringing hazardous travel conditions and colder temperatures. Residents should prepare for slick roads and possible snowfall accumulation in higher elevations.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will develop late Thursday night and continue into Friday, with gusty south winds reaching up to 23 mph. On Friday night, temperatures will dip into the mid-30s, and rain may transition into a mix of rain and snow, particularly in areas above 1,400 feet.
By Saturday, widespread rain is expected with temperatures reaching 42°F. As colder air moves in Saturday night, a rain-snow mix is likely, with minimal accumulation in lower elevations. Sunday could see more rain and snow, with snow levels dropping to 1,300 feet.
Drivers should use caution on highways, especially in higher elevations, where icy conditions could develop. The system will linger into Monday, with another round of rain and snow expected.
