Oregon Ice Storm Warning Continues Through Friday: Freezing Rain Threatens Travel and Power in Eugene

Eugene, OR – Freezing rain and icy conditions will persist through Friday, creating hazardous travel and the risk of power outages across the Willamette Valley and the Oregon Coast Range.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland, the ice storm warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Friday, with significant icing expected. Ice accumulation could reach up to three-tenths of an inch, with an additional two inches of snow possible in some areas. Bridges, overpasses, and roadways will become slick, making travel dangerous. The Thursday morning and evening commutes are expected to be affected.
Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually rise on Friday, transitioning precipitation to cold rainthrough the weekend. However, icy conditions could linger in some areas. By Saturday, rain will continue with a high near 46°F, and heavier showers are likely on Sunday with highs around 50°F.
Authorities urge residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. If you must travel, use extreme caution and watch for black ice on roads and sidewalks. Power outages remain possible due to ice accumulation on power lines and trees.
