Oregon Weather Alert: Freezing Fog and Snow Expected Along Highways 11 and 84 Through Thursday

Pendleton, OR – Patchy freezing fog and snow will impact Eastern Oregon this week, bringing hazardous travel conditions along major highways. Drivers on Highway 11, Highway 204, and Interstate 84 should prepare for reduced visibility and icy roads through Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton, dense freezing fog has developed in the Blue Mountain Foothills and Grande Ronde Valley. Monday will see patchy fog through the morning, followed by mostly sunny skies with a high near 30°F. Light winds will provide little relief from the cold.

Tuesday will bring clear skies and a high near 24°F, but freezing overnight temperatures will continue to create icy conditions. By Thursday, a system will move in, bringing a 60% chance of snow in the afternoon. Accumulations could make road travel difficult.

Residents should remain cautious on slick roads, especially during morning and evening commutes. The NWS advises drivers to allow extra travel time and use headlights in foggy conditions.

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday will bring additional snow chances, with temperatures hovering in the low 30s. Stay updated with local weather alerts for changes in the forecast.
