Medford, OR – A strong winter storm is set to impact southern Oregon this week, bringing heavy snow and rain to Medford and surrounding areas. The National Weather Service forecasts up to 3 inches of new snow Tuesday, with rain and snow showers continuing throughout the week.

According to the latest forecast, snow will transition to rain Tuesday night, with a 70% chance of precipitation Wednesday. Road conditions along Interstate 5 and Highway 62 may become hazardous, particularly in higher elevations. Travelers should prepare for icy roads and reduced visibility.

By Thursday, rain and snow showers are expected at elevations as low as 1,700 feet, with continued wet conditions into Friday. Daytime highs will range from 35°F to 39°F, while nighttime temperatures will drop into the low 20s, increasing the risk of freezing roadways.

Residents should prepare for winter driving conditions and check local road advisories before heading out. Snow accumulation may be minor in lower elevations but could impact travel in the mountains.
