Grants Pass, OR – A powerful winter storm is set to impact Southern Oregon and Northern California, bringing heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions from Sunday through Tuesday. The heaviest snow is expected Monday morning, with significant accumulations east of the Cascades.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. Sunday to 4 p.m. Monday for elevations above 2,000 feet in eastern Curry County and Josephine County, including the Kalmiopsis Wildernessand parts of Highway 46. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 4 to 11 inchesabove 2,000 feet, with 1 to 4 inches possible at lower elevations.
The storm, fueled by an atmospheric river and a stationary front, will create hazardous travel conditions, particularly on mountain roads and passes. Commuters should prepare for difficult driving Monday morning, with possible delays and icy roads.
