Pair arrested for stealing catalytic converters in Southern California

Police arrested a man and woman accused of stealing catalytic converters in San Bernardino County early morning Thursday, officials said.

The Upland Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers responded at around 4 a.m. to a catalytic converter theft in the 300 block of South Sinclair Avenue.

However, before officers arrived, the suspects fled the scene.

“It didn’t take long for us to do what we do and get this vehicle identified,” wrote the police department.

After entering the suspect’s car as a wanted vehicle and making a broadcast to regional agencies, Upland PD’s partners, the Pomona Police Department, “made quick work of it” and found and pulled over the car in their city.

“Our officers responded, located stolen catalytic converters, burglary tools, drugs, and paraphernalia,” stated Upland police.

Officers arrested the two suspects, only identified as a male driver and female passenger from Los Angeles County, for felony theft and drug possession, conspiracy and more.

In addition, the department had their vehicle towed.
