State College, PA – Ice-covered roads and freezing rain continue to impact central Pennsylvania this morning, making travel hazardous during the morning commute. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon EST, with lingering slick conditions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, sleet and freezing rain have created dangerous road conditions, with ice accumulations between one-tenth and two-tenths of an inch reported. Some areas also received up to two inches of snow, worsening travel challenges.

The advisory covers a wide region, including State College, Harrisburg, York, Lancaster, Williamsport, and Carlisle. Wind gusts between 15 and 25 mph could bring additional risks, such as falling tree limbs and power outages.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution and reduce speed on icy roads. Conditions will gradually improve as temperatures rise into the 40s by the afternoon, melting the ice. Until then, drivers should allow extra travel time and check PennDOT’s 511 system for real-time road conditions.
