Altoona, PA – A winter storm is set to bring snow, sleet, and ice to central Pennsylvania, with hazardous travel conditions expected from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Clearfield, and Somerset counties. Forecasters warn of 1 to 2 inches of snow and sleet, followed by up to three-tenths of an inch of freezing rain late Wednesday into Thursday.

The storm will likely create dangerous road conditions, especially during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Ice accumulation may lead to power outages and tree damage in some areas.

Residents should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility. Drivers are urged to use caution, while those traveling should monitor forecasts for potential warnings or advisories.

Officials recommend stocking emergency supplies, charging devices, and limiting travel if possible. The National Weather Service will provide updates as the storm approaches.
