Pittsburgh, PA – A winter storm is set to bring hazardous conditions across Pennsylvania tonight, with snow and ice impacting Pittsburgh and surrounding areas through early Sunday. Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are expected to become slick and hazardous, making travel dangerous.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Sunday, with snow accumulations up to one inch and ice buildup ranging from a glaze to two-tenths of an inch. The advisory covers much of western Pennsylvania and east-central Ohio, impacting major roadways like I-376 and I-79.
Drivers should exercise extreme caution, as freezing rain could create treacherous conditions. If travel is necessary, allow extra time and reduce speed. Pedestrians should also be cautious on sidewalks and stairs.
Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high of 36°F, bringing a brief break before another round of snow on Tuesday. By midweek, mixed precipitation could return, further complicating road conditions.
Residents are encouraged to report hazardous conditions to @NWSPittsburgh on Twitter or by calling 412-262-1988. Stay updated with NOAA Weather Radio or weather.gov for real-time alerts.
