SAN ANTONIO – A Crystal City police officer was confronted with a sawed-off shotgun while trying to intervene in a group altercation, as reported by the San Antonio police.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Emerald Ash.
According to witnesses, the disturbance began as a disagreement at a party and escalated into the complex’s parking lot.
Amidst the altercation, one individual grew increasingly agitated and fetched a sawed-off shotgun from downstairs, aiming it at those involved.
At this point, the 48-year-old Crystal PD officer, who was on security duty at the apartment complex in his complete police uniform, announced his intention to defuse the argumentative group.
As he attempted to intervene, the individual holding the shotgun directed the weapon at the officer, instructing him not to make any moves.
During this moment, officers from SAPD’s South patrol division arrived on the scene. The suspect and a woman quickly fled upstairs to an unidentified apartment unit.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
