Police responding to domestic violence call shoot, kill armed suspect: Murrieta PD
A domestic violence suspect police said was armed with a handgun was fatally shot by officers as they made entry into an apartment in Murrieta late Wednesday night.
Police were called to the incident at the Pacific Landing Apartments at 36125 Creighton Ave. around 11:45 p.m., the Murrieta Police Department posted on Facebook.
Arriving officers “made a forced entry” after hearing what were described as signs of distress when no one answered the front door.
“Upon entry, officers encountered a male armed with a handgun. During that encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred, and the male resident was struck with gunfire,” police said.
The unidentified 57-year-old suspect was taken to Inland Valley Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
No further details regarding the initial disturbance were provided.
No officers were injured in the incident, which will be investigated by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Force Investigation Detail.
