Police searching for man in brutal Southern California hit-and-run

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – Police are looking for the driver of a black Ford F150 who struck a 60-year-old pedestrian, leaving him in critical condition while he fled the scene Tuesday.  

The felony hit-and-run unfolded just before 9:30 a.m.at the intersection of Reseda Boulevard and Clark Street in Tarzana, a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department stated.  

Footage of the incident released by police shows the driver of the pickup truck making a left turn onto Clark Street when he struck the 60-year-old as he was walking in the marked crosswalk.  

Several people witnessed the collision and exited their vehicles to assist the victim.  

“The driver of the Ford F-150 initially stopped, exited his vehicle and went to where the victim was laying in the street,” police said. “The driver then returned to his vehicle and fled from the scene eastbound on Clark Street, failing to identify himself or render aid as required by law.”

Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the intersection and rushed the 60-year-old to the hospital in critical condition. The victim’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.  

The pickup driver is described as a male, wearing a baseball cap and a blue jacket with dark colored pants.  

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to the identification, capture and conviction of the felony suspect.
