Police seek additional victims of alleged AV gear thief
Police are looking for additional victims of a man accused of fraudulently renting audiovisual equipment, then keeping the gear.
Ryan Levon Roman, 32, was reported to the Burbank Police Department in December for allegedly renting the gear from a private dealer using a payment that failed to clear, police said in a news release.
Roman, an Angeleno, had already taken possession of the equipment when the dealer learned the payment didn’t go through, and the equipment was never returned, police said.
Roman was located in Westwood Village and arrested on Feb. 26 on a charge of grand theft, and police believe he “may be involved in similar thefts within the City of Burbank and throughout Los Angeles County.”
He was on probation for previous thefts in L.A. County, though he was out of compliance with that probation as of August, police said.
Anyone with information about Roman and similar cases in Burbank is asked to call Detective Arias at 818-238-3010. For incidents outside of Burbank, contact your local law enforcement agency.
In the meantime, Roman is facing multiple cases with several upcoming court dates, including on Wednesday, Friday and March 18, jail records show.
Police said he was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail, but jail records indicate he is being held without bail due to one of these cases.
Roman was already on probation for previous thefts within Los Angeles County. However, Roman was out of compliance with his terms of probation as of August 2024. On February 28, 2025, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of Grand Theft, a felony, against Roman. He was arraigned at the Burbank Courthouse and remains in custody with a bail set at $75,000.00.
