Police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run in Westlake

The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in Westlake last month.

The victim, 41-year-old Joshua David Hathaway, was walking on 3rd Street at about 12:50 a.m. on Jan. 12 when he was hit by a sedan headed west on 3rd Street from Lucas Avenue, police said in a news release.

The sedan, a white Honda Accord from model years 2018-22, did not stop to help and instead continued heading west on 3rd Street, police said.

Hathaway was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available for information leading to the driver in hit-and-run cases.

Drivers are reminded to remain at the scene and notify authorities if they are involved in a crash, and pedestrians are advised to “exercise caution when crossing streets, obey traffic lights, cross within marked crosswalks, and obey the rules of the road,” police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Balderas, Serial No. 41911, at 213-833-3713 or 41911@lapd.online.
