Public invited to take L.A. shelter dogs on ‘adventure day’
Best Friends Animal Society is inviting the public to give shelter dogs a much-needed break during its upcoming “Adventure Buddy Day,” taking place Saturday at Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in West Los Angeles.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors can stop by the center at 1845 Pontius Ave. to pick up an adoptable dog and take them out for an adventure.
Outings can include a hike, a trip to the beach or a quiet afternoon at home, organizers said.
The program is designed for those who love dogs but are not yet ready to adopt, offering a way to provide shelter pets with socialization, exercise and human companionship.
Dogs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, officials said. Those interested in participating must sign up in advance online.
Best Friends Animal Society says this adventure day is part of its ongoing efforts to improve the lives of local shelter animals.
The organization says it operates the largest database of shelter dogs and cats in the U.S., collecting data from more than 7,900 shelters and rescue groups.
