Moline, IL – A winter storm is set to bring freezing rain and slick roads to the Quad Cities region Wednesday, making travel hazardous. Both morning and evening commutes could be affected as mixed precipitation moves through the area.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Quad Cities, rain or freezing rain is expected to begin Wednesday afternoon before transitioning into widespread rain by evening. Ice accumulation is possible in some areas, leading to slippery roads and difficult travel conditions. Motorists should prepare for potential delays, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Temperatures will stay near freezing Tuesday night, with a low of 25°F, before rising to 33°F Wednesday afternoon. Rain is likely to continue into Wednesday night, with a 60% chance of precipitation and lows near 30°F.

Looking ahead, Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high of 36°F, while temperatures drop sharply Thursday night to 19°F. Friday will be partly sunny with a high of 34°F.

Drivers should stay updated on road conditions and allow extra travel time. Monitor local forecasts for potential changes as the storm approaches.
