Rape suspect sought after 2 women assaulted in Long Beach
Police are asking the public for help in their search for a man described as a rape suspect who attacked two women in Long Beach earlier this week.
The first assault took place around 1 a.m. Wednesday as the victim was walking near an alley in the area of West 10th Street and Pacific Avenue.
“She was approached by the male adult suspect, who sexually assaulted her,” the Long Beach Police Department stated in a news release.
No further details about the attack were provided but police said the suspect was on foot when he fled northbound on Pacific Avenue.
Later that morning at around 9 a.m., police believe the same suspect approached another woman in the 1200 block of Long Beach Boulevard and struck her in the upper body.
The attacker was described as a Black man between 25 and 30 years old standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. Police said he had medium-length dreads and facial hair.
The Police Department provided the following safety tips for residents:
- Be alert and aware of your surroundings
- Trust your instincts. Always See Something, Say Something
- Call Police Dispatch at 562-435-6711 to report suspicious activity
- Call 9-1-1 for emergencies and to report crimes in progress
- When walking at night, walk in well-lit and populated areas, when possible
- If possible, don’t walk alone; walk with another person
